Solutions to Make Electronic Voting Machines Easy to Use
The Trace Research & Development Center has announced EZT Access design techniques to make electronic voting machines easier to use for the average citizen, an aging population and people with disabilities. The low-cost EZ Access techniques can be applied to a wide range of electronic voting systems including handheld tablets, tabletop units and kiosks. One version was shown on the portable QuadMedia kiosk at the voting technology demonstration on Capitol Hill Tuesday, January 30th, 2001.

EZ Access built into Kiosks at The Smithsonian Institution, by NCR and IsSound Corporation
A new exhibit on the Disability Rights Movement opened July 6, 2000 at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History, running through July 2001. Two web-based interactive kiosks accompany the exhibition and utilize the EZ Access techniques developed by the Trace Center (with funding from NIDRR) to make the kiosks accessible to all visitors regardless of ability or disability. A virtual tour of the exhibit, which is featured on the kiosks, is available on the Smithsonian National Museum of American History Virtual Exhibitions site.
- This project was initiated by IDEAL at NCR, who also produced the physical kiosks.
- The kiosk software was developed by isSOUND.
